Baru-baru ini..

Tidak habis-habis tentang program susu sekolah. Kanak-kanak pula menjadi mangsa.

Negarakuku.

Mengapa saya berkata begitu?

Terlalu lambat! Sempat juga saya memberi contoh kisah Ayah Pin, sepatutnya dia diberkas mengikut akta ISA. Namun oleh kerana waran tangkap yang dijadikan sandaran, Ayah Pin masih bebas sehingga kini.

Mahukah anda perkara ini berulang? Pokoknya sekarang, perbaiki ISA, bukanlah 'ABOLISH'-nya sahaja sepertimana yang dicadangkan rakan saya itu.

No law is perfect.

Jangan berani berkata 'berhemah is irrelevant'.

Saya bukannya mahukan Raja Petra menjadi nabi baru. Saya cuma minta Raja Petra ikut sunnah nabi cara berdakwah. Jangan hanya mahu menang sorak dan menjadi kontroversial!

Sebab itu saya tidak respek Raja Petra. Artikelnya penuh tohmahan dan emosi.

Tidak ubah seperti blog-blog saya dahulu. Benar tetapi penuh kontroversi.

Blog hangat Jeghui.

Malaysia under Umno was, is and will forever be a basket case. What we see now as development and progress are merely internal consumption.

Unless the government commits to real change and wiping out of the current rot in Umno, Malaysia is slowly but surely spiraling downwards towards being a pariah country.

If we read the Malaysia Federal Constitution of 1957, we will not find the word "bumiputera" - hence some would say the origin of the word is grounded in the political agenda of some politicians to discriminate against citizens not of malay ethnicity.

In short there is no constitutional legitimacy in the use of the term "bumiputera" except for its purpose which is to discriminate for the sake of discriminating.

Some fifty years after independence from the British, the demographic profile of its population has changed. Most of the Chinese/Indians today are no longer foreign born, and through the principle of "jus soli" (Latin meaning "right of the soil") are citizens by birth.

The word "bumiputera" (Sanskrit meaning "son of the soil") which came into popular use after the riots of 1969, is a convenient term not grounded in the science of anthropology but in the politics of race - in other words its use is a convenient invention by malay politicians and malay leaders to justify the policies of Umno which dominated the ruling alliance, which came to be known as the New Economic Policy (NEP).

It could have been called "The Great Affirmative Action Policy" but the architects of the NEP are visionary leaders whose motives go beyond affirmative action.

It is not a coincidence that post-1969 saw the rise of business oriented leaders in Umno and the political demise of the malay school teachers whose hold over power in the party suffered a setback. The labeling is important as events many years later are to demonstrate to us that more is envisaged rather than just affirmative action.

Let there only be one class or let Malaysia be a nation of the "classless". Malaysians do not need a caste system like we find in India.

Enough is enough. The word "bumiputera" creates a class of Malaysians based not on ethnicity but on some dubious criteria with religion factored into it.

It is conceptualized for the convenience of policy makers who rode on the wave of malay nationalism unleashed after May 13, 1969 to maintain their position of power and influence.

The faster we do away with the word "bumiputera" the better it will be. The use of the term "bumiputera" post-1969, I submit, has less to do with affirmative actions but more to do with politicians who see in it the opportunity to maintain their hold over power.

It is time power be handed over to a fresh breed of Malaysians who think less in terms of Malay, Indian and Chinese or "bumiputera" and "non-bumiputera" but more in terms of Malaysians of different ethnic descent.

But let us not lose our perspective. The United States has been independent for more than 200 years but is still today struggling with racism. Malaysia is still politically a toddler learning to walk. Success is about what happens when we fall rather than in the walking.

Our Malaysia educational policy is in a hopeless situation. By changing from English medium to bahasa melayu, we lost a generation of English speaking people.

Now countries like China and India have overtaken us. Soon Indonesia and Vietnam will also overtake us, if they had not done so. Our country will eventually become the sick man of Asia.

We will be a nation with a lot of unemployable graduates with qualification that is not recognised by any country outside Malaysia.

Frankly, all our local university qualifications are not recognised by any oversea educational body. That is a polite way of saying that your university standard is lousy and not up to standard.

So those of you in local university, stop wasting your time, might as well do a vocational course. You have better chance to get a job.

Lee Kuan Yew said recently the relationship between Malaysia and Singapore has not always been smooth sailing, and so investing in the Iskandar Development Region (IDR) may not always be smooth sailing for Singaporean companies.

This is simply a statement of fact that nevertheless appears to have gotten local Umno leaders into a tizzy.

Every local Umno politician hopes to be in a position to be approving investment flows into the country because to stand as gatekeeper is a very lucrative position, and when public squabbles erupt between Umno politicians about who is the better "protector of malay privileges and rights", it usually means someone just wants a bigger cut of the investment action for himself.

Go figure that one.

Of course, the relationship between Malaysia and Singapore is special because of the race relations issue.

Singapore has been the favourite whipping boy of the Umno-controlled malay vernacular press for the last 50 years, and if anything are seen as even bigger devils than the local Chinese and Indian citizens of Malaysia in the eyes of Malaysia's malay Muslims.

The fact is Singapore's development model has meant that Singapore's malays are far better educated, far better equipped, far better paid, far more self-confident, and self-reliant to deal with globalisation than malay Muslims in Malaysia.

This makes Ketuanan Melayu, the malay Agenda, and the NEP look like failed racist apartheid policies that have impoverished everyone except Umno cronies. Of course, Umno must demonise Singapore to maintain the illusion that Umno politicians are nationalists and not parasites, and more so if Singapore happens to be better educated, meritocratic, richer, and safer than Malaysia.

Malay Muslims in Malaysia have been brainwashed by Umno for the last 50 years into thinking that the Chinese and Indians both Malaysians and Singaporeans have gotten rich at their expense, and this perception probably won't change anytime soon because Umno does not have another elections winning formula if it dumps the present demonisation formulas.

Every time Singapore's first world achievements are compared with the sluggish technological, competitiveness, economic, educational, professional, scientific, and social standard in apartheid Malaysia, there is the predictable keris waving, baying for blood, and frothing at the mouth in every Umno up and down the country in Malaysia

Although Chinese and Indian Malaysians have simply accepted the gross racial discrimination in business, education, and job as a fact of life in Malaysia, the non-apartheid non-NEP meritocratic Singaporean mindset may not have the stomach for this particular type of nonsense in the IDR.

I think Lee Kuan Yew is way too smart to think the demonisation process of the Chinese and Indians in the Umno-controlled malay vernacular press is going to stop anytime soon. How else is Umno going to win elections except by continuing to perpetrate the lie that the orang asing minorities in Malaysia are a threat to the malays?

Nevertheless Lee Kuan Yew may be hoping Chinese and Indian Singaporean investors will not be discriminated against in the IDR in comparison with investors from countries like China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and United States.

In the meantime, I am sure it will simply be business as usual for the rest of us in racial and religious apartheid Malaysia.

In Japan people commit hara-kiri if they have erred. Here Malaysia we have half past six ministers pointing fingers at each other. See the big difference? Our ministers here their skin is thicker than Kobe beef.

I have mentioned in my posts that NEP is not constitutional and has extended its period beyond what has been planned to be necessary. 20 years has passed, but greed has set in.

Greed to benefits only a few and not the poverty stricken Malaysians. An affirmative policy that helps the poor regardless of race is needed.

I have also demonstrated that India has Muslim presidents despite being 80% Hindu. Similarly, in Australia there are Asian mayors. In America, New Zealand and many countries, top positions are for the capable not based on race or religion.

Now, let us not sweep all discussions under the carpet with the term Article 153.

Article 153 should always be interpreted together with Article 8 that all Malaysians must be dealt with fairly and treated as equal.

While the positions of the malays are respected and their heritage not forgotten, they are not meant to be the guardians of toll and wealth and collectors that usurp all money, oil and some natural resources till it is left dry.

It is important we publish this, so we do not just shiver when we hear Article 153, and begin to think of greedy ways to gain from another or use it to put down another races.

Article 153:

(1) The quotas reserved must be reasonable and the reservation of licences and permits for malays and natives must be of such proportion as may be deemed reasonable.

(2) The scope of the reservation of quotas is only with respect to positions in public service, scholarships, and other similar educational or training privileges accorded or given by the federal government.

(3) The special reservation of quotas must not affect the rights of other communities.

Apart from the provisions allowed under the abovementioned Article 153, all citizens of Malaysia must be treated as equal. This is clearly provided for under Article 8 of the Federal Constitution.

Article 8:

(1) All persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law.

(2) No public authority shall discriminate against any person on the ground that he is resident or carrying on business in any part of the federation outside the jurisdiction of the authority.

(3) There shall be no discrimination in favour of any person on the ground that he is a subject of the ruler of any state.

NEP: It will destroy the Malaysia.

We must demand these changes and the power is with the people. We must go against a corrupt government, a fanatic religious social structure and not accept crime rates and the NEP. We need to change Malaysia and the social structures that are not relevant for Malaysia anymore.

We need to free ourselves from these chains that make our lives not worth living.

Malaysia is definitely going the way of Fiji and Burma in due course.

No willingness to open up politically and culturally, no urgency to excel and no hunger pang on the part of malays, Malaysia I reckon may take many generations to wear out like Burmese, who is very much the same as the malay genetically and culturally.

"As these public institutions are essentially malays, they also bring shame and dishonor to own race."

Much as I would like to refrain from saying this but it is a fact that the malays are viewed in poor light (to put it mildly) by the general non-malay population.

The behavior of their political masters and the civil servants gives credence to this view.

How sad, the race that claims to own this land, the race that claims to be defenders of its religion, is contributing immensely to its degeneration and eventual destruction.

The malays are viewed in a poor light not only by the non-malays but by the malays themselves.

And this is a fact. See how cocky and arrogant the moron from Jerai is. He talks as if he owns the Malaysia country when in fact he is just a water boy running errands for his Umno masters.

Most of them cannot argue their points and when push comes to shove would draw their parang or keris for effect. How naive.

Good luck all Malaysians!

I am not trying to show off with my qualification. What I am trying to say is that Malaysia will lose out if all these educated people and highly qualified do not want to go home.

Frankly, I have start up my family in the UK and also a very successful business. I have been working towards my success starting from zero. Not even 1 cent or penny from the Malaysia government.

I am fed up with the corruption and discrimination in Malaysia. I agree with somebody "if we disagree with Malaysia government policies that are based on race and religion then we should move out of the country" and I did.

Some people might say I am coward or traitor but why should I stay if the government treats me as nothing? I feel human living in the UK and everyone is being treated the same no matter what is the colour of your skin.

Imagine living in a country which people like Haji keep calling "this is Islamic country, if you don't like it, get out". Or the future leader like Khairy saying something unreasonable.

I feel ashamed and insecure. I cannot see the future for the next generation. Therefore, sorry to say but I am a proud British now.

Forget about globalisation. Our Malaysia country can't even sort out internal multi-culturalism. Searching for the best person for the job is too much.

Why not have a major breakthrough and break another glass ceiling for racial harmony in Malaysia? At least consider all qualified Malaysians irrespective of race as UM vice chancellor (VC) to be. Not just a list of malay candidates! So insulting to the 'Malaysia Truly Asia' slogan.

A really good VC will implement meritocracy in the truest sense of the word. Of course this will not be sympathetic to the malay Agenda. I think the powers that be is fully aware of this and will not dare to hire somebody outside their race.

That is why we have brain drain. Who want to work in a place where there is no prospect and your destiny is designed by the color of your skin .The sky is not the limit here - your skin color is. It doesn't hurt that must if you are in other countries, but to be treated like that in your own country……….it really sucks.

If this country is to progress and the dominant race is to advance to a higher level, the politicians will have to discard their current mindset first. No use talking about first class mindset when their very own mindset is narrow and selfish. To them everything is about race, their race that is.

Firstly the prime minister must have first-class mentality, so that he can lead the country towards excellence. So far we are not yet to see that in Pak Lah.

Those in power still have this Ketuanaan Melayu mindset. Therefore to get somebody other than their race is not on their agenda. All this talk should to have a first class mindset is you guessed it, talk only.

Umno Youth leader will come out with his keris if any other than a malay is appointed VC of the country premier university. There is no way, not in a million years, will a non-malay be a bank negara governor, chief justice, state secretary, vice chancellor, etc etc.

This is malay pride and racial pride supercedes national priorities in this country

Malaysia is now what Germany used to be in the Second World War under the reign of Hitler. As what person has mentioned, the malay pride is at stake.

The world had never seen an ethnic race with such an inferiority complex. They are forever afraid of losing out to other races. Sigh!

Bolehland is too full of wishful 'Boleh' such that too many are hallucinating and no longer acknowledge reality of globalisation.

Just like economic developments, where we were once on par with the likes of Korea, today we are ranked in the lowly hundreds while Korea are playing in the World Cup. The same malaise will happen to any VC if he is of the 'wrong' race.

Until and unless there is confidence that the best person has been selected and that person should be allowed to do his/her job, anyone in that position would be subjected to all kinds of interference as pointed out.

Over the decades, the government has proven to the world that malays are up to the mark for all positions of importance. There is therefore no need to put up malay candidates just to show that malays can perform.

The government has confirmed that meritocracy is the guide for student enrolment and staff recruitment into universities. The person sitting on the post would have to follow that policy. There is therefore no hidden agenda to be secretly carried out by the trusted person of specific racial origin.

Do the right thing by appointing the best person to any job.

Nope. You got the equation wrong.

BN won was because there is no equal playing field. In a free democratic country, all parties are given adequate airtime on national television, newspaper, Late Show with David Letterman, etc.

Here, coverage is only for BN. Each time you switch on the TV, you will see our Bapa Slogan sleepy face. You don't have a chance to catch a glimpse of any of our oppositions figure. Tell me when was the last time you watch Anwar on national TV?

All the draconian laws in Malaysia prohibit free speech, and our local mainstream media will have to abide by it. Try to switch on to any of our TV news at 8 o'clock later and the answer is very clear there.

In conclusion, our oppositions are not weak. It is the unfair level of playing field. Period.

uh-oh suddenly got so many comments? i hope it's not from the same person.

sory i just got back from futsal but i will state my opinion at my best possible.

if we look at the history books, we will find how Malay/bumiputera rights were derived and agreed.

I was mutually agreed by all races in order for Non-malays to sustain their citizenship. Thus, to argue about how it was first being implemented is somewhat backward thinking.

i agree to some extent that this special rights shouldn't be practiced forever. however, if we look at the current situation, the economical gap is still very large between races. NEP however has failed to deliver and I suspect it must have because of complacency of the bumiputeras and 'mahu cepat kaya jual contract' attitude.

By saying that, I am still unconvinced if the special rights were to be abolished, other races wouldn't retaliate. It is quite a scare when people retaliate you see. and this will see the gap being widen much further. I'm unconvinced because we do not work together that much to close the gap. I'm not only talking about the Malay economy but also the Malaysian Indians. I do hope what we can do is to eradicate poverty regardless of their skin colour.

i have said it many times, if we prove that we can work together, this special rights will perish! But we dont even go to school together anymore how do you expect we can work together as a team?

i have said it many times, it all can be started when one school is conducted. where little children will be united until they work as adults.

Lets not create another Namawee. Obviously he doesn't understand the Malays/Muslims culture. This chaotic act will not be tolerated. I expect him to face the music soon.

I'm quite optimistic about the future if one school can be practiced. I have no qualms about that in terms of mixing the school children in boarding school whatsoever.

again this is simply an idea. to make it happen is a stumbling block but putting egos aside, it will one day become a reality.

Bersatu Bertambah Mutu.

No, I don't read Harian Metro. What was being said about Namewee is my personal view derived from his video clip Negarakuku. As a Malay, as a Muslim, I felt insulted. Of course you don't feel it probably you are being biased. I felt that way straight away after I saw the video although I tried to be as diplomatic as possible.

Why do you have to pin-point the Malays? Bullying is everywhere. And I dont quite get your point here.

You have to be focussed here. What was done wrong is still and forever be wrong. If one day a Malay guy retaliated and came out with a new video preaching hatred towards the Chinese, I would condemn him too. What was done my namewee does hurt people and must be dealt quickly. It doesn't matter if Namewee was a CHinese or Indian or Orang Putih or a Malay. What is wrong is wrong.

If pork is to be a issue here to prevent racial unity, I think that's quite shallow. I was from SFI myself and had my friends eating pork in front of me I even asked them if they can share their food with me without knowing the content of it. They insisted they had pork in their meal and I didnt have any problem with it but felt grateful as they know about my religion and didn't hate for it. Not like Namawee. Obviously, he voiced out his disgust on 'Azan' (muslim praying time call), females with tudung (hijjaab, bukra) that urged me to feel infuriated with him coming out with that malicious song. Again, this feeling came out has got nothing to do with UMNO or hate-chinese agenda, I felt it because I'm a muslim and my mom and sisters wear the tudung and I dont see nothing wrong with that. I respect other people's cultures and costumes and I expect namewee to do that too. Tudung/hijjab and crossing the road slowly, what interrelation does it has?

[u cakap: "saya yakin ISA (International Security Act) masih lagi relevan tetapi tidak seharusnya disalah gunakan oleh parti-parti bagi tujuan politik."

ISA tu utk tujuan politik saja, u pikir la, kita kan negara demokrasi, ada kebebasan, mengapa ada satu ISA yang boleh tangkap org suka-suka bila-bila masa? tak mek sense tau?]

I think you saw I said "jangan disalahgunakan bagi tujuan politik". So we sorta agree with this right?

[ni semua I comment betul-betul sincerely, kalau ada apa-apa INSULTING, bagi tau saja ya, I betul tak sengaja, cuma nak communikasi je. good luck.]

Thanks for your comments. It's good to communicate and realising how you out them in in Malaysian language gave me the idea how we can work together for a better, more integrated Malaysia. Say no to racism and lets work together to eradicate poverty and improve the socioeconomy.

I'm happy you are trying to find invaluable experience outside the country to bring it back for Malaysia. God bless us all.

Negarakuku Issue:

I hope many Malaysians realised that some parts of Negarakuku can be seen as highly offensive and provocative by a lot of Muslims.

At the same time we must also be honest and look at the situation that creates many of our youths - of all races - to have such misunderstandings of other communities.

ISA:

The ISA is the Internal Security Act, not International Security Act.

You say that the ISA should remain for cases like this, but should not be misused for political purposes.

The nature of the ISA itself leaves room for abuse. That is the problem. Even in Islam, there is a need to go through due process.

In cases of racial incitement, etc, existing laws are adequate. We can even have a Race Relations Act like in the UK to curb racial provocation. People can be arrested if there are grounds, but he or she must be brought to the magistrate and the prosecution must show sufficient ground why the person need to be detained and tried.

History is rich in examples of supposedly benign security laws being misused due to lack of checks and balances.

Madeku367 said...

im sorry about the typo on the initials of ISA.

It had been corrected. Just like Namewee. He should be corrected.

He had apologised and that's fine. Causing uproar with his song, we are not trying to blow things out of proportion.

Whatever Khairy said, for that matter, I still think Namewee should face the music so that we won't breed more rappers preaching hate between races.

Another blunder by Khairy? He should stay out of this and just let the A-G and police decide.

This is not a mere wee issue. I reject the idea of leniency whilst the crime rate and social problems soaring.

salam.glad to encounter such blog like yours.not many students from overseas doing a neutral based political blog.most blogs i read aggressively showed their so-called moderate and liberal thinking supporting the opposition.i personally feel that there are a lot more to be discussed rather than provoking Malaysians (esp. Malays) through blogs.keep it up,bro!

something missing,

If the song was made by a Malay or Indian or Jew or even Negrito I will give the same opinion as I gave about Namewee.

Noone is indispensible.

And I'm colour blind if you like. It doesn't matter which race the culprit belongs too. What is wrong is wrong!

So what Namewee did was wrong.

I can also point out other racism issues in the Cyberworld like the UPM students and others, but unfortunately they are outdated.

Hope you get my point.

I'm all for Integrasi Kaum!
